Abstract
Lower esophageal web is a rare disease in Korea, which is characterized only by intermittent dysphagia, especially when swallowing solid food and esophageal stenosis due to diaphragm-like protrusion on esophagogram. Following Templeton who described about web or ring that can be found only when esophagus is dilatated on esophagogram in 1944, there were many separated reports or survey of lower esphageal ring.
In spite of many case reports and pathologic study by foreign scholars, etiology of ring or web itself continues to remain controversial.
Authors experienced a case that a 59-aged-woman had undergone. She visited our hospital by the chief complaints of intermittent dysphagia for 6~7years in duration. She was operated under impression of esophageal ulcer with hernia after esophagogram at Lee Chul Surgical Clinic in Taegu, but confirmed to lower esophageal web by operative findings and pathology.
So we report a case of lower esophageal web with brief review.
